Kite Game was born from the Game Jam of Museum La Tertulia from Cali, Colombia in 2020.
This game was my first Game Jam and reinforce that I want to developer videogames as a form of Art where we can express and interpret different meaning. The twist of this game is to control the character directly with the controls and control the kite in an indirect lenght by adjusting the lenght of the kite’s thread.

Genre: 2D Platform
Software: Unity
Project Type: Group Project
Development Time: 3 Days
My Role: Game Designer, Game Programmer
I worked as a game designer and software developer creating the concepts and the mechanics of the game. From the creation of the concept of controlling the character and the kite, the physics of the kite and how it should behave and the obstacles that the player should surpass.
This project was made for the Game Jam of Museum La Tertulia from Cali, Colombia in 2020.
My Responsabilities:
- Worked as a Game Designer and created the mechanical concept of controlling the character and the kite.
- Programmed the actions of the character and the controls for the kite.
- Developed the spawn of the enemies in random position to create a different experience in each playthrough.
Artist’s Inspiration:
Inspired by the work “El Pandero” by Alfonso Quijano from the museum’s collection, seeing some children playing with their kite trapped in a tree and how this represents the problem they have in their lives, we want all people to fly their kite facing obstacles and fulfilling their dreams.

The visual and artistic part was inspired by the works “Avenida” by Leon Ferrari and “Serie Amazonica: Selva#2” by Maria Thereza Negreiros as they are works in constant movement with different shapes and colors without forms, respectively. With one last surprise, taken from the work “Teatro Belalcázar”.
